Narasimha Nara + Singh (“Man-lion”) is considered in the Puranas to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Who appears in the form of half human and half lion, whose head and trunk were of human but face and claws He was like a lion. He is worshiped in India, especially by the Vaishnava sect in South India, as a deity who appears to protect his devotees in times of calamity.
